ATHINA BEKOU

Athina Bekou is a fourth year student in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece in the Faculty of English Language and Literature. She dreams of becoming a university professor in the department of English literature, since literature is her main passion in life. She loves reading and writing and some of her favorite literary figures include George Eliot, Charlotte Bronte, Wallace Thurman, Langston Hughes, Toni Morrison and of course Walt Whitman. She had always admired Whitman’s work and thankfully she had the privilege of studying some of his writing during her time in the undergraduate program. She can’t wait to see what this workshop has in store for her and be further immersed in the wonderful world of Walt Whitman’s words. She sincerely hopes that this is going to be an educational and stimulating experience.
